So…what is Lotería?
Lotería is a Latin American game of chance, similar to Bingo, that uses images on a deck of cards instead of numbers on ping pong balls. Each image has a name and an assigned number. Each player has a tabla, (board) with a randomly created 4×4 grid of pictures with their corresponding name and number. The deck is composed of 54 cards, each one with a different image. The caller randomly selects a card from the deck and announces it by name, sometimes using a riddle or humorous patter. The first player with four chips in a horizontal, vertical, or diagonal row, squared pattern, any other previously specified pattern, or who fills the tabla first, shouts "¡Lotería!“ (Lottery!) or "¡Buena!” (Good!) and is the winner.
